22 Things about Olive

Well, I haven't posted in a while. I guess more like 18 months, but instead of doing a huge catch up I thought I would just post 22 things about Olive, because she just turned 22 months old.

22. She loves candy. All day she is asking for "cany, cany" if you ever see a picture of her there is a good chance she will have chocolate all over her face.

21. She is very particular, I joke that she has OCD. All drawers have to be shut all the way, when she takes off her shoes she has to put the velcro back together nice and neat, her sippy cup has to go in the cupholder on the couch, her crayons have to be put neatly back in the cup, she has to be fully clothed all of the time (if she's not she will find something to wear and put it on), and she HAS to pick up everything that may or may not have fallen down, we are constantly hearing around the house "Oh no! Fall down!" The other day she walked about a block in the park to make Dad pick up a garbage can that had fallen over.

20. She loves to go outside. We call it the "o" word in our house. If the word is spoken she will hear it get her shoes and scream for twenty minutes, or until we take her out.

19. She makes anything into a horse. She will climb onto anything, mostly Maeby and try to ride it like a horse. Maeby is so patient and just lays there.

18. Since we went to San Diego she calls her sand box the "beach"

17. She is obsessed with letters "E" "S" and "Z" if we see a welcome mat she will stop and point out all the E's.

16. She knows all the characters in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Donna (Donald), Easy (Daisy), Foofy (Goofy), Plu (Pluto), Minnie, and Mickey.

15. If you ask what her name is she will say "Owuve Sattett"

14. She loves to climb. The other day I found her on top of her dresser looking at pictures.

13. Her favorite foods are candy, yogurt with granola, bananas, and fries.

12. She loves books, everyday she pulls out all of her books and carefully looks through them. She loves books with wolves (Maybe because I read "Twilight" while I was pregnant, I'm not sure)

11. She loves baby dolls, too. She strolls them around, wraps them in blankets and gives them bottles. I catch her in her room a lot feeding her babies and singing to them.

10. She loves Katy Perry. She sings along with "Firework" especially the part when she says "Oh, Oh, Oh"

9. She thinks the mouse on the computer is a phone. She puts it up to her ear and starts talking to Grandma.

8. Her favorite animals are Panda, Elephant, and Horsey.

7. Her favorite toy is her bouncy horse. I think she has found at least 40 different ways to get on and off the horse.

6. She loves to "shump" or jump. She is working really hard to jump straight off the ground instead of just off of furniture. We just put her in gymnastics and she loved it, she is always trying to practice her front and back flips.

5. She knows almost every body part and loves to point them out on Mom, Dad and Maeby. She can say all of them, too.

4. She is talking so much now and it is so nice. I think she is figuring out that it gets her what she needs/wants a lot quicker then crying. She even says full sentences. Yesterday she told me "Owuve tummy hurt." and "I need diaper." and the parade she didn't have a chair and she said "Where Owuve sit down?"

3. She is so loving she loves to give "Loves." She is always hugging and kissing. She is so caring and already has an amazing ability to empathize with others.

2. She loves to high five and give knuckles, and if your are in the room you better be ready to do it, too .

1. We love her so much. She is the most amazing little girl in the whole world. She is so smart and so sweet. She definitely does not lack in the personality department. Everyone that meets her instantly loves her. There is never a dull moment with our sassy little girl, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Holidays 2009

We had a great holiday season this year. It was Olive's first Christmas so we had a good time trying to make it special. Santa brought her a pretty in pink jumperoo, she likes it but is still trying to get strong enough (and tall enough) to really start bouncing. We had a Sackett family Christmas party earlier in the season, and Olive got her first Christmas present a play phone from cousin Tyrell. Bill got a ratcheting screwdriver from Tyler, and Melissa got a picture frame from Heather. It was a great party and it was so fun to have everyone at our house. We spent Christmas eve and Christmas morning at Grandma Marilyn's. Grandma watched Olive while Bill and Melissa went to see "Avatar" (a great movie, if you haven't seen it drop what you are doing and go NOW!) for the second time. Then we came back and watched "Elf" with Scott and Hollie after eating a great Christmas dinner that Grandma had made. The next morning we opened presents we got a lot of stuff, too much to name. Grandma Marilyn spoiled her first grandchild so much she got a new dress, four
sleep-n-plays, an activity mat (which she spends hours under), a pillow pal, and a polar bear teether. Scott and Hollie gave her a glow worm that she LOVES to look and smile at. After that we came back home and played with our toys while we waited for Grandpa and Grandma Sackett to come by. We visited for hours and while we watched and played with Olive. It was great to be able to see both sides of the family on Christmas and hope to continue that tradition for years to come. New Years was fun, too. We spent it with Nate and Nicki. We went to dinner and came back and watched a scary movie. When it was over we watched the ball drop and gave Olive a big kiss on her first new year. Nate and Nicki stayed the next day, too. We went to the Gateway and went shopping, then that night Grandpa and Grandma Sackett came in and watched Olive while we took the Griffith's to see "Avatar" first time for them, third for us. It was way fun, and we hope we can have that much fun every holiday season. It was definitely one to remember. Thanks to everyone that helped make Olive's first holiday season a wonderful one.

Catching up

Well, it's been a long time and a lot has happen for the Sackett's. Let's start last Fall. We bought a house in October. It is in Sandy in a nice quiet neighborhood, our house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. A den with a fireplace, and an upstairs dining room, living room, and kitchen. We made the two extra bedrooms into a gym and a guest room or "The Griffiths' room" seeing as how they are the only ones who have stayed in it. We love our little home and couldn't be happier. Right now Bill is working on adding a shed on to our garage, and making me a big pantry, I can't wait. In November we decided to add someone to our family, (Mimi, the hamster I had talked about in my previous post, had died a few months ago). Well actually Nate decided we should add someone to our family, and he convinced us to head down to Spanish Fork to look at some lab puppies. He drove us down and as we walked up to the door all these little black labs came running towards us. One of the little girls came up to Bill and layed right down on his feet and rolled over to let him rub her tummy. We were in love. We came home with a little black lab that day and decided to name her Maeby after a character on "Arrested Development." She was 10 pounds then now she is a whopping 70 pounds, but the sweetest, most gentle dog you could ever meet, and we love her (Thanks Nate). In December we decided maybe it was time to have a baby, so we would "see what happened." Well after two weeks I decided that I was too scared and we needed to wait another year. Too late. I found out on December 29th, that I was pregnant. We were scared. I remember coming downstairs to tell Bill and I was shaking. We found out I was due on September 9, 2009, so it was fun to tell everyone 9-9-09. On March 31st, we found out we were having a little girl, which we both already knew in our heart's was the case. Then after a long HOT summer. On September 2nd, 2009 we welcomed little Olive Lottie (after my Grandma Lottie) into the family. The labor was long and hard and I ended up with a c-section, but she was so worth every second. She was 7 lbs 14 oz, and 20.5 inches long. Now she is 4 months old, rolling over, and eating cereal. She loves music, to kick her legs, smile, laugh, and stand on her Mom and Dad. I will try to keep the updates coming, thanks for reading my catch up.

We're Bloggers now!

Hey everyone! I have decided to copy the great Melissa Clayton Rodemack and start a blog for Bill and I. To catch you up on what we are doing, Bill and I just graduated from the University of Utah. Bill graduated in Electrical Engineering and is now an engineer at a company in West Valley. I graduated in Human Development and Family Studies, and I teach at Head Start in Rose Park, currently I am out for the summer which gives me the time to do a blog. We love to have fun with each other and our friends, Bill, when he is not at work, likes to skateboard, snowboard, camp, play Xbox 360 and fix things (cars, my hairdryer, etc.). I like to scrapbook, shop, read the Twilight books, do crafts, and take care of our house. We have two birds Donald and Gary, and one morbidly obese hamster Mimi, they are our kids for now and we love to play with them.
